The beloved bak chor mee stall, which was a staple at Sim Lim Square’s food court for 26 years, has reopened its doors at Lengkok Bahru. The stall had to close its original location last December due to a spike in rent, leaving many of its loyal customers disappointed. The stall was originally started by the owners’ grandparents and has been serving delicious bak chor mee to Sim Lim Square shoppers for years.
Menu Highlights:
- Signature Bak Chor Mee (S$4.90): This dish stands out with its diverse mix of ingredients, including ngoh hiang, fishballs, fishcake, fried wantons, pork slices, and mushrooms. While it no longer includes abalone slices, the variety of ingredients makes up for it. The fried wanton, in particular, is crispy and filled with a flavorful mix of fresh minced pork and chestnut. The noodles are well-cooked, and the sauce, a blend of chili, black vinegar, and soya sauce, pairs perfectly with the noodles. The sauce is slightly more vinegary than typical versions but maintains a good spice level with the chili sauce. If ordered dry, the dish comes with a side of warm soup with fishballs.
