
Founder’s Journey: Edmund Lye, 42, shared a deep passion for the oyster cake. Inspired by his favorite oyster cake from Fuzhou Poh Hwa Oyster Cake at Jalan Bersih Food Centre, he decided to quit his job as a graphic designer and venture into making oyster cakes. Edmund modified the traditional recipe to suit his taste, making the batter slightly thinner and omitting the peanuts.
Oyster Cake Quality: The oyster cake at Oyster Boy stands out. The crust is light and not oily, and the meat filling, made from pork collar, is well-seasoned. The accompanying chili sauce complements the oyster cake well. However, the absence of peanuts was noted, as they are believed to add to the texture and flavor of the cake.
Rating: The oyster cake is rated 4.25/5. While it is commendable, there’s potential for further refinement.
